Asbestos – Bulk Materials

Utilising our purpose-built asbestos laboratory, Vertex can analyse suspected asbestos containing materials (ACM) for the presence of asbestos fibres (chrysotile, amosite, and crocidolite). We can conduct asbestos soil testing, asbestos testing in the home, and commercial asbestos testing. In addition, we can also provide specialist advice on product sampling techniques, test report result interpretation and asbestos removal testing. Samples are analysed to the following Australian Standards:

• AS 4964-2004; Method for the qualitative identification of asbestos in bulk samples.

Mould

With an in-house mould laboratory and accredited analysts with the McCrone Research Institute, Vertex provides rapid high-level mould testing, analysis and reporting for the built environment. Mould exposure testing and analysis is possible across various sample types – from airborne mould testing spore counts and mould air quality testing to growth condition analysis on building materials, tape lifts and swabs. All mould samples are analysed in accordance with internationally recognised test methods:

• D7391 – 20; Standard Test Method for Categorization and Quantification of Airborne Mould Structures in an Inertial Impaction Sample by Optical Microscopy, ASTM International, 2018
• D7658 – 17; Standard Test Method for Direct Microscopy of Mould Structures from Tape, ASTM International, 2017.

Asbestos – Air

Vertex Analytics is an Asbestos Fibre Testing Company that’s NATA accredited for the analysis of airborne respirable fibres in dust and can offer same-day reporting for compliance monitoring and workplace exposure assessments. The methodology is conducted using the following widely recognised method:

• Guidance Note on the Membrane Filter Method for Estimating Airborne Asbestos Fibres 2nd Edition [NOHSC:3003(2005)]

Specialists Services

Our laboratory can provide custom or specialist analysis upon request, including unique occupational hygiene investigations. Such analysis can include estimation of airborne synthetic mineral fibres (SMF), quantification of ash and char particulate contamination to surfaces following fire damage, airborne bio-particulate quantification, and occupant allergen investigations (pollens, dust mites and other bio-particulates).
